 Growing

Konzelmann Farms is owned and operated by Dan and Miriam Konzelmann and Family, and has been built on years of experience, hard work, and passion for the land.

Dan grew up farming alongside his father on their dairy and cash crop farm in Switzerland. In 1996, Dan and Miriam, along with their children, immigrated to Canada and settled in Wyoming, Ontario. While initially continuing to farm conventionally, in 1999, Dan began transitioning to organic farming. Today, Konzelmann Farms is a fully certified and operating 2000-acre organic farm.

Processing

Since first farming in Canada, Dan has also processed his own seed. He began processing his own crops when he transitioned to organic farming and would also take in small quantities of other farmers’ grains. By building relationships with farmers, mills, and marketers, he was able to expand processing for the next ten years, until he was processing about 1200 tonnes a year. Over time, he expanded his storage capacity, services, and equipment. Today, Konzelmann Farms processes approximately 3500 tonnes of organic grain a year and ensures that the product meets the high standards of the national and international organic market and mills.

Dan and Miriam are passionate about the organic lifestyle; they believe that with organic living, everything is connected in a healthy way. As a holistic style of farming, it supplies them with the peace of mind that each and every product put into the ground and onto their crops is natural and not in any way harmful to humans or soil. There is also an exciting and invigorating experience that comes with creating innovative solutions and responses to the needs of the soil and crops, and most importantly, to be good stewards of the land they have been blessed with.
